What makes it interesting is that the calls coming into the BBB On YOUR Side call in program all mirrored what the Better Business Bureau serving the Snake River Region handles on a day-to-day basis.
“Better Business Bureau believes in informed people buying from ethical companies,” Dale Dixon, CEO for BBB, says. “We all win. Our time with Idaho On Your Side Tuesday night, answering viewer phone calls about holiday shopping and scams gets to the heart of why we exist. The newscasts provided a direct connection with thousands of people in Idaho – helping each become a more informed consumer.”
BBB staff members were on the phones from 5 p.m. through 10:30 p.m. taking more than 67 calls in the time period. The staff answered viewer phone calls during evening newscasts about shopping, finding great deals and avoiding scams.
I think the best part of the night was watching the number go up on the news screen and hearing the phones immediately begin to ring. People have learned that they can trust BBB to have the right answers about business.
“Joining with Better Business Bureau is one of the ways we’re working to help our viewers during this holiday season,” said Marie McGlynn, Journal Broadcasting’s general manager. “Today’s 6 On Your Side and FOX9 viewers were able to call the station and get expert advice on saving money, protecting their identity and avoiding scams.”
More than one caller said they were grateful for BBB’s efforts protecting the public from scam artists. The live call in session sheds transparency on the staff and the dedication it has on watching out for trouble.
